Exaltation is an ancient astrological schema where planets have environments (signs) in which they have access to surplus resource or support. it’s their most powerful place to be, even though the power comes with great expectations and response-abilities. Jupiter, everybody’s favorite benefactor, is exalted in cancer.1
Part of how this schema works is that when planets are transiting a sign they’re not only looking to that signs ruler, they’re also looking to that signs exaltation ruler. I like to think of the exaltation rulers as the godparents of the sign.
Example:
New moon in cancer with Venus
Cancer is ruled by the Moon
Jupiter is cancer’s exalted ruler
Jupiter is in gemini
The Sun, Moon, and Venus are looking to Jupiter in gemini as a wise godparent who gives out the most meta advice from the aerial view of having a large influence but not being directly involved in raising these crazy kids. now that it’s summer, the Sun, Moon and Venus in cancer are playing in the inflatable pool in their genius, wacky gemini godparents backyard. Jupiter makes sure everybody has their floaties on. because cancer is ruled by the Moon it’s like mom is there, too.
It’s a sweet moment if expectations are kept low and a general sense of chaos is embraced. Jupiter in gemini isn’t really an outcome oriented promise maker. they have more of a “here for a good time not a long time” philosophy when it comes to their attention span. but that works in our favor in Phase 2 of The Great Defrosting.
We don’t necessarily need more focus for this phase, we need more flow. the new moon is trining (having a direct, easeful conversation) Saturn in pisces. it’s easier to flow when the waves keep coming without giving you time to over-analyze because you’re trusting the floaties to keep your head above water.
Wtf are the floaties? I think that’s a great question for you to answer with this new moon. I have a few ideas for you to bounce off of though, given that Jupiter is ruled by the idea-machine that is Mercury.
Ideas for Floaties:
Pay attention to your narrative. what’s the story you’re telling yourself about whatever tension, ambiguity, duality, or overwhelm you’re navigating right now?
Talk it out. when you can’t feel it out, take the risk of talking it out. even if it doesn’t result in more clarity it might create more contrast between your experience and your desired experience…and isn’t that the same thing?
Use The Experimental Method2 for EVERYTHING. Jupiter in gemini teaches through experience and experimentation. you probably don’t need more formulas or philosophies couched in certainty, you need more of the kind of wisdom that only comes through direct experience.
Contemplate the elements of emergent strategy, especially fractals!!!
Think in terms of nourishing and nurturing your dreamworld, not manufacturing or idealizing it. what’s happening right now? what can you appreciate? what can you eliminate? what can you water? what can you prune?
Venus is about cultivating the conditions that proliferate the sensations of your dreamworld. how do you want to feel? it might be a question you hear a lot but what happens when you actually answer it? because the experience of your life is filtered through how it feels. don’t underestimate it (just like I advise you not to underestimate Cancers ;).
Make “I guess” and “I don’t know” and “does it really matter?” and “who fucking cares?” your best friends.
Join me in The Sublimate Lab where I’m going to teach you how to transform tension into energy and ambiguity into clarity that you can use to take control of the narrative and create your dream reality. the entire program is one big floaty for your summertime
sadness I mean madness I meandefrosting.
Enough fucking advice. let’s get personal…
